Last night for Fat Tues we had a Mardi Grad party

Zatarain's sent coupons, beads, masks, and a sampling of products. I was a little disappointed that they only sent two box of rice mixes! So I did have to buy quite a bit. (but that depends on what the vendor sends out and each one is different)

This Saturday At Walmart!

Saturday, February 13 from 11 am to 2 pm, Walmart will be hosting the Littlest Pet Shop “Pets on Parade.” You can take your little one to march in a Parade inside your local Wal-Mart. Every 10 to 20 minutes, a new parade will start inside the entrance of the store (this is a non live pet parade.)

It's Mardi Gras Season

Ok- I'm frugal- I LOVE deals. I love yard sales. I have made choices to stay home and raise our son- and that means cutting back. My husband doesn't like Mardi Gras and as a family we "don't do Mardi Gras". We live in the birthplace of Mardi Gras. (and I'm proud of that fact- I love the history in Mobile). Well, with that being said- we got invited to a Mardi Gras Ball-my husband had never been to a ball and I really wanted to go. He already had a Tux (I bought at Hudson's a couple of years ago for $10!!) , the tickets were free, so I needed a gown. It's the wrong season to look at yard sales, so I looked at a few thrift stores with no luck, the Jr. League has a great store, Seconds on Sage ( I tried on a Vera Wang for $35!), I ended up at Rave Review Consignment Store (6157 Airport Blvd, Mobile, 251-342-0150) Now, Let me say- I had a cold, I had NO makeup on, I looked like crap! I mean- maybe the worst- I've ever looked going off!! The Salesperson- ABBY- could not have treated me better if I were to have walked in looking like the Queen of Sheba! I think I tried on half the store! But I liked what I bought and Abby was very honest with me- I almost settled on something else and she wouldn't let me! (thanks!) I spent a more than this frugal gal wanted too- but less than I would have at the "real" store. So, If you need a gown (or other clothing items) go see Abby at Rave Review Consignment.

By the way, We had the BEST time at the parade and ball!! The above pic is of my family but my son didn't attend. (we just took his annual Valentine picture at the same time) We stood in a very safe place for the parade- I saw no drinking, or lewd acts at the parade. Police were all over the area. I felt very safe and will take my son back to experience a Mardi Gras parade.

Food World Coupon Policy

I spoke to a manager at the Saraland Foodworld today about thier coupon policy.
I told her I had a blog about coupons and Foodworld- she even offered for me to put up a sign about my blog on the community board- So I think I'll do that!
She took down the coupon policy off the wall and copied it for me. Here's what it says:
1. Only one coupon per item.
2. Manufacturer coupons up to fifty cent only. (Doubled)
3. Coupons for more than fifty cents will be redeemed for the face value.
4. Tobacco, cigarette, alcoholic beverage or free items cannot be doubled.
5. The total redemption value must not exceed the price of the item.
6. Expired coupons will not be honored.
7. If muitple of the same items are purchased, up to ten coupons will be doubled, after the 10th coupon the remaining coupons will be redeemed at face value.

"Souper" Bowl Sunday

First Let me Say- Go Saints!!
It's getting very cold outside- and we have a few people coming over for the game-
So I thought - "Souper" Bowl Sunday
I wanted to share a recipe from my friend, Frances. (Thank you!)
I hadn't made it a while and I don't know why not- It's Great!
So I wanted to share!!

Santa Fe Soup
2 packs dry taco seasoning
1 pack dry ranch seasoning
2 cans whole corn
1 can black beans
1 can kidney beans
1 can pinto beans
2 lbs hamburger meat
1 diced onion
1 can rotel
1 can diced/stewed tomatoes (whatever you have)
2 cups water

Garnish with cheese, sour cream, chives, and tortilla chips.

This is super easy! Cook hamburger meat and diced onions together. When done drain and add all other ingredients.
Simmer- at least 30 minutes. (It's better the second day!)

If you like Sushi- Samurai J's - Let me also suggest the Fairhope Roll- a little pricy and a little spicy! I think the Total must be $50 for sushi- I didn't buy one this time- so I don't have one in front of me- but It's easy to do on a night on sushi! (think of it was half price sushi!) We don't treat ourselves to often - but when we do this is our place!!

and Two- Island Thyme Eats and Arts- We have just found this place.

Your total must be $35 and they add in 18% tip, but before tip you and friend (and maybe one more if you watch what you eat) can all for About $14! (plus tip)

How I got that- $35 check total- $25GC = $10 bill + $4 spent on GC= $14. Of course depending on what you eat! Let me suggest the Island Dip wrap- I think it was $12 and Very GOOD. My husband had the Cuban- maybe time in Tampa- spoiled us- but it can be skipped.

 You judge for yourself- Like everything else on here- It's just my opinion!
